| 2010 Cycling Conference Summary |
 |
SMA-SA would like to thank all delegates and particularly those who travelled from interstate, for their attending the “2010 Cycling Conference” held in Adelaide in conjunction with the Tour Down Under.
Mary Safe, representing the Amy Gillett Foundation opened the Conference and accepted a donation on behalf of the foundation. The conference received fantastic positive feedback which afirmed the high calibre of speakers we were able to attract.
Two early morning workshops, with delicious muffins and fresh fruit for breakfast, rounded off the 2010 Cycling Conference.
Monday morning’s workshop “Bike Set Up” with key note speaker Dr Nick Brown, assisted by four bike mechanics was a phenomenal success. Many eager lycra clad participants rode to the venue and rode away with an improved understanding of some the finer details associated with their bike and better setup opportunities.
Thursday’s workshop “Practical Aspects to Training” conducted by Peter Mueller and Nick Wood, was also very well attended by the lycra crowd. Participants had fun riding their bikes and actively participating in stretching sessions after an in-depth theory session.
A total of 107 delegates attended the 2010 Cycling Conference, with 32 visiting from interstate across a variety of disciplines. The Key note Speaker Dr Nick Brown was well received as were other speakers from the AIS including Dr David Martin and Professor Louise Burke. SMA-SA conference organisers would like to thank all speakers, including Australian Cycling Coach- Mr Shayne Bannan, Medical Director Tour Down Under - Dr Peter Barnes, Physiotherapists - Mr David Hayes and Mr Stan Garland, Australian Cyclist - Anna Meares, Dr Geoff Thompson Sports Physician for the Olympics and Para-Olympics and Professional cyclist Nick Wood.
